--上海辞书出版社简介
中国著名的出版工具书的专业出版社，前身是成立于1958年8月的中华书局辞海编辑所，1978年1月改称现名。主要出版综合性辞典、语文词典、专科辞典以及手册、年表、索引、年鉴等。以丰富的辞书资源为依托开发光盘等电子出版物。
1978年以来，《辞海》等14种图书荣获国家图书奖的各类奖项，《中国成语大辞典》等25种图书荣获国家辞书奖的各类奖项。1994年，被中共中央宣传部、新闻出版总署表彰为全国优秀出版社。
1958年开始组织全国数千位专家学者对旧《辞海》进行脱胎换骨式的修订，1979年正式出版《辞海》（1979年版），后每隔十年修订一次，1979年版、1989年版分别有三卷本、缩印本、分册、增补本等版本，1999年版除了有普及本、缩印本外，还增加了彩图版、音序版，累计为社会奉献了《辞海》各种版本1600百多万套（册）。40多年来，出版各类综合性辞典、专科辞典填补了大量学科空白，并形成规模和系列，其中《哲学大辞典》、《伦理学大辞典》、《中国历史大辞典》、《中国文学大辞典》、《中国美术大辞典》、《中国篆刻大辞典》、《宗教大辞典》、《法学大辞典》、《中国文物精华大辞典》、《中国文物定级图典》、《敦煌学大辞典》、《英藏斯坦因第三次西域考察所获汉文文献》、《中国古今地名大辞典》、《补遗雷公炮制便览》《中国社会科学院学术委员文库》等一批精品力作受到了社会广泛好评。一部比《辞海》规模更大的综合性辞典--《大辞海》（38卷）正在陆续出版，已成为国家重要的文化工程之一。以《中国文学鉴赏辞典大系》为代表的文学鉴赏类工具书，开创了集阅读、检索多种功能于一身的辞书新形式，销售已超过500万册。《中国成语大辞典》以权威、严谨、收词量大而著称，《中国古代名句词典》、《当代汉语词典》（逆序）、《精编当代汉语词典》、《中国歇后语大词典》、《中国俗语大全系列》、《语文小词典系列》等语文工具书形成了大小搭配的合理格局。同时开创了图文书的新领域如：《名家配画诗、词文、曲》系列、《经典图读》系列等都在图书市场上有较大影响。自主开发图书编纂数据库系统，通过对出版资源的数字化，推动辞书编纂手段的技术进步。注重辞书编纂的学术研究，编辑出版辞书学专业刊物《辞书研究》和专题论著。出版社内部形成了一套以"严"字当头的管理办法，培育了 "辞海精神"，得到了江泽民同志的题词肯定："发扬一丝不苟、字斟句酌、作风严谨的'辞海'精神，为提高中华民族的文化素质而努力。"
在期刊领域出版了反映都市休闲文化的《出色》、指导住房装潢理念的《家居主张》，以及表现国际服饰潮流的《国际服装技术》，形成了书刊互动的格局。
年出书达250种左右。全年初重版图书总印数达250万册。
全社设有辞海编纂中心、语词编纂中心以及哲社、史地、文艺、科技数字化、图片、文博、宗教文化等编辑室，《家居主张》期刊部，辞海实业有限公司等部门。现有在职职工159人。其中具有高级职称47人、中级职称53人、初级职称33人。
The Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House is the first specialized publishing house of the People's Republic of China, which publishes all kinds of reference books. It grew in January 1978 out of the Cihai Editing Department of Zhong Hua Book Company founded in August 1958. It puts out comprehensive dictionaries, Chinese language dictionaries, specialized dictionaries, chronological tables, indexes, yearbooks and so on. It edits and publishes a bimonthly journal Lexicographical Studies, the publication specialized in lexicography. It also published CD-ROM, such as Children version of Cihai, Chinese Films, etc.
Since 1978 more than one thousand books and dictionaries have been published with printed copies up to seventy million. Nine kinds of books, such as Cihai, were awarded the honorable title of State Book Award, the supreme books award of China, and thirteen kinds of books, such as A comprehensive Dictionary of Chinese Idioms and Phrases, won China Dictionary Award, the supreme dictionary award of China. The numbers of award won by the publishing house ranks it No.1 among the local publishing houses. In 1994, it was honored by the Propaganda Department of CPC and Bureau of News and Publications under the State Council of the People Republic of China with the title of the National Excellent Publishing House.
There are eight editing departments, 33 senior editors, 73 editors, and 25 assistant editors in Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House.Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House also sets up its own distributing department which distributes all kinds of books published by itself.
